Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to reports that Democrats are plotting to pass an earmark-laden $1 trillion omnibus spending bill during a post-election Lame Duck session.

“Democrats have taken ‘out-of-touch’ to a whole new level,” said Congressman Price. “Who in their right minds could look back on the last two years and think taxpayers want another $1 trillion, pork-barrel spending bill written behind closed doors? The Democrats’ bloated budgets need to be cut, not increased. This news also shows the ridiculousness of the Democrats’ tax hike argument. At $1 trillion for one year, the price tag on this spending spree would be 28-times higher than the tax rate extension they claim is too expensive. That is hypocrisy, pure and simple.

“Democrats had all year to try to pass the contents of this omnibus. They refused to do it because they know Americans are tired of out-of-control spending. A Lame Duck session should not be used to override the public’s will on spending or anything else. It’s time to cut spending and get back on the path to a balanced budget.”
