Price Decries Yet Another Trillion-Dollar Deficit
In Three Years, Democrats Add $10k to Deficit for Every Single American
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after the Treasury Department officially reported that the federal government ran a $1.29 trillion deficit during the just-completed 2010 fiscal year. Since Democrats took over Congress in 2007, they have been responsible for more than $3.1 trillion in deficit spending, or about $10,000 for every single American. The national debt currently stands at $13.6 trillion.
“If not for the reckless spending of last year, this would be by far the largest annual deficit in history,” said Congressman Price. “In fact, the three largest budget deficits ever were all written by Speaker Pelosi and company. This year, Democrats took their recklessness to another level by failing to write any budget at all.
“With the economy in poor shape, families and businesses have a hard enough time paying off their own debt. Congress created this problem, and Congress needs to fix it by cutting spending to balance the budget. Washington’s addiction to spending is no excuse to raise taxes.”
