Democrats Refuse to Listen, Again Support Unaccountable Lame Duck Session

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after House Democrats again voted to kill legislation, which he introduced, to prevent a Lame Duck session this year. House Democrats voted against a similar resolution on August 10 of this year.

“Americans could not be more vocal in opposition to the outrageous policies coming from Washington, but this majority just refuses to listen,” said Chairman Price. “Democrats hope to go even further in a post-election Lame Duck session, by their own admission. Multiple opportunities have been given to House Democrats to do the right thing and reject this sorry strategy. Unfortunately, their out-of-touch majority continues to walk in lockstep with Speaker Pelosi and President Obama.

“With our economy struggling and faith in Washington at an all-time low, a Lame Duck blitz is the last thing Americans need or want. We can, and should, stop the impending tax increases and cut spending immediately. Congress has a responsibility to finish this important business before adjourning and before the November election!”

Note: If the House had instead passed the Price resolution, Representatives would have pledged “not to assemble on or between November 2, 2010, and January 3, 2011, except in the case of an unforeseen, sudden emergency requiring immediate action from Congress.” Click here to read the full text, including excerpts of numerous reports about liberal policies Democrats hope to enact during a Lame Duck session.
