Price Reiterates Call for Geithner, Summers to Resign Immediately
On the heels of the announcement that Obama economic advisor Larry Summers will resign after the coming midterm elections, Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) reiterated his call for both Summers and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner to resign immediately.
“Economists say the recession officially ended in June 2009, yet we’ve continued to shed jobs and the unemployment rate has climbed in the past fifteen months of so-called recovery,” said Congressman Price. “Obviously Obama’s agenda of government spending, job-killing tax hikes, and costly red tape for employers to wade through is not the right answer. Even the President’s economic team says they do not expect unemployment to leave the ten percent range any time soon. Yet they stubbornly refuse to admit failure or consider better ideas to encourage hiring and investment. Geithner and Summers both need to resign immediately. The American people cannot afford one more day of the President’s failed economic strategy. It’s time to wipe the slate clean and find people who actually know what it takes to survive and thrive in the private sector.”
