Price Offers Democrats Another Chance to Abandon Lame Duck Plans
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after introducing legislation pledging the House not hold a post-election Lame Duck session except in the case of an unforeseen, sudden emergency. The Price resolution gives Representatives another chance to show if they stand for or against the plan pushed by numerous Democrats to enact massive tax hikes, bloated spending increases, and unpopular liberal policies during a Lame Duck session.
“Over the last two years, Americans have clearly voiced their opposition to Speaker Pelosi’s job-killing, liberal agenda,” said Congressman Price. “So far the Democrat majority has refused to listen, but I’m giving them one more chance to do the right thing and abandon their plans for a Lame Duck blitz. Defeated or retiring members of Congress should not be voting on major public policy except in the case of an unforeseen national emergency. It’s a common sense idea that members of both parties should be able to get behind.
“Congress will never restore its honor or integrity until it respects the wishes of the people. I applaud my fellow Republicans who have shown they understand this truth. I urge House Democrats to join us in respecting the will of the American public.”
NOTE: House Democrats delayed consideration of the Price resolution until next week. The majority party has already voted to kill similar legislation on August 10 of this year. The text of the resolution is available here.
