Price: “It is clearly time to try something new.”

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in support of Republican Leader John Boehner’s call for Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and White House National Economic Council Director Larry Summers to resign. Multiple recent reports show that the economy – whether in regards to unemployment, GDP growth, or the housing market – has not recovered or improved in the manner predicted and promised by the Obama Administration’s economic team.

“For more than 18 months, the American people have watched as the Obama Administration and its Democrat allies in Congress spent trillions of taxpayer dollars on failed economic policies,” said Congressman Price. “Those efforts have yielded record deficits, near double digit unemployment, and a housing market that remains mired in uncertainty. It is clearly time to try something new. I commend House Republican Leader Boehner for bringing attention to the need for the resignation of Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and White House National Economic Council Director Larry Summers. American families are calling for a change in Washington and a clean break from the out-of-control spending and failed policies that are driving our nation into debt while doing little to put individuals back to work. As a show of good faith to the American people, the President should take immediate action to replace those who have crafted and implemented his economic agenda. Only with a clean slate in place and a dedication to a new direction, can we work to build a consensus toward policies that reflect the wishes of the American people and respect the role of small businesses and entrepreneurial job creators in our future prosperity.”
