Price Named a “Taxpayer Hero”
Congressman Tom Price (GA-06) today announced that the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) named him a “Taxpayer Hero” for his record of fighting to cut wasteful spending, reduce the national debt, improve government transparency, and let Americans keep more of their hard-earned tax dollars. Rep. Price earned a 99 percent rating from CCAGW for the first session of the 111th Congress. This rating is based on 120 different votes taken by members of the House of Representatives in 2009. “It’s an honor to be recognized for fighting on behalf of hardworking taxpayers,” said Congressman Price. “Americans have had to tighten their own belts in recent times, and they have every right to demand that Washington do the same. That is why I have introduced a concrete plan to balance the budget in both of the last two years. Spending restraint, not job-killing tax hikes, is the key to reining in the exploding national debt and renewing confidence in our economy. Sadly, this Congress’ affinity for backroom deals and passing legislation without reading it has also destroyed many Americans’ trust in their elected officials. In keeping taxpayers’ interest at heart, I will continue to fight for more transparency and accountability between members of Congress and the public they serve.”
