Price: “The Biggest Obstacle to Recovery Is Washington Itself”
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after President Obama flew to Michigan to once again tout the Democrats’ failed stimulus package.
“The President can fly around the country giving as many speeches as he likes, but it won’t change the fact that the private sector is being held back by a mountain of uncertainty,” said Congressman Price. “Democrats refuse to budget, refuse to rein in trillion dollar deficits, and refuse to tell Americans how high their taxes will be next year. By their own admission, small business owners are hiring fewer people due to rampant uncertainty about the Democrats’ job-killing agenda.
“American families and businesses are eager for a recovery built on private sector growth. Democrats have instead focused on bringing more power and control to Washington. And right now, the biggest obstacle to recovery is Washington itself. Republicans have better solutions that would unleash the ingenuity of the American people.”
NOTE: Earlier today, Politico reported that, “A number of small-business owners attending the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s jobs summit Wednesday said the administration is responsible for policies that have made them uneasy about hiring or investing in their businesses. ... Daryl Hancock owns an information technology consulting company in Maryland and said Obama’s sweeping changes to the health care industry and new restrictions on Wall Street have only exacerbated the uncertainty of a bad economy. Hancock said he’s ‘very nervous’ about the future and has put off improvements. ‘It’s easier for me just to sit and wait,’ he said.”
