Price Statement on June Jobs Numbers

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 125,000 jobs were lost in June.

“According to the latest unemployment report, the Democrats’ so-called ‘Recovery Summer’ is just an empty marketing slogan,” said Congressman Price. “Our nation needs serious leadership, not a campaign-style public relations tour. Disappointed Americans are dropping out of the workforce in increasing numbers as people across the country continue to ask, ‘Where are the jobs?’ Private sector growth is still not where it needs to be, and the demise of temporary Census jobs has predictably left hundreds of thousands of Americans without work once again.

“Democrats have already burdened the economy with job-killing mandates and tax hikes. By failing to pass a budget and kicking major legislation to a lame-duck session, they are making it impossible for families and businesses to plan for next year. Entrepreneurs and small business owners will not grow their companies without a basic understanding of future costs. If Democrats were truly focused on the economy, they would stop with the uncertainty and the job-killing agenda.

“Responsible leadership that respects the private sector would do wonders for our economy. Republicans stand ready to rein in Washington’s excessive spending and foster a friendly environment for job creators.”
