Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement this evening after Congressional Democrats opted to ignore the need for a budget and passed in its place a simple resolution that does not account for future spending or deficits.

“It is these types of gimmicks and short-sighted accounting schemes that erode the American people’s confidence and trust in Congress,” said Congressman Price. “This maneuver by Congressional Democrats shows a troubling lack of seriousness on their part to address our short-term and long-term fiscal challenges. It is a level of failed leadership that is simply unacceptable at any time but even more so when our nation’s debt stands at over $13 trillion and our economy continues to sour.

“The American people deserve a Congress that does not hide from its duties or attempt to kick the can of responsibility farther down the road. There are a number of ways we can tackle our debt problem, but it requires a caliber of leadership that has been absent under this Democrat-controlled Congress. Conversely, the Republican Study Committee has offered a strategy to address America’s fiscal mess as we acknowledge that, like American families and small businesses, our nation too must live within its means.”
