Price: “This Is No Time for a Victory Lap”
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in advance of President Obama’s visit to Racine, Wisconsin today to talk about the economy.
“The White House’s ‘Recovery Summer’ sales pitch is completely out of touch with reality,” said Congressman Price. “President Obama’s own chief economic adviser, Christina Romer, told the country last October that the ‘stimulus will likely be contributing little to growth’ by mid-2010. Sadly, that sentiment applies to the entire tenure of deficit spending under the Democrats’ failed economic approach. Instead of growth and job creation, the stimulus has contributed to a drastic spike in deficits and a mountain of debt to be left to our children and grandchildren. With millions struggling to find work and make ends meet, this is no time for a victory lap. I hope the President and his Democrat colleagues will finally stop sugarcoating the facts and level with the American people. The sooner Democrats admit the failure of their big-spending stimulus, the sooner we can start putting America on the right track toward fiscal responsibility and prosperity.”
