Price Calls on President to Fully Implement Iran Sanctions

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement urging President Obama to fully implement sanctions against Iran’s energy and financial sectors.

“By placing crippling sanctions against Iran’s energy and financial sectors, we have a chance to derail Iran’s mad rush toward nuclear weapons,” said Congressman Price. “While this bill is a vast improvement over the weak half-measures taken by the United Nations, the effectiveness of our own sanctions depends on President Obama’s willingness to vigorously implement them to the fullest extent. Utilizing the broad waivers demanded by his administration would put this entire effort at risk.

“The Iranian regime’s dream of possessing nuclear weapons is a nightmare scenario for the United States, Israel, and our allies. A nuclear Iran would cause a destabilizing arms race in the Middle East and could lead to untold conflicts. The rulers of Iran killed their own people for protesting a fraudulent election. They have threatened to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. And they would not hesitate to put nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists. I call on President Obama not to waive these sanctions. We cannot afford to take half-measures that would put American lives and those of our allies at risk.”
