It’s About Jobs, Not A Marketing Campaign
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement commenting on the Obama administration’s recently announced six-week campaign to sell its failed stimulus package to the American people.
“A six-week marketing campaign will not obscure the reality Americans see every day,” said Congressman Price. “The Democrats’ so-called stimulus has been an abject failure. White House economist Christina Romer testified last October that the stimulus would ‘likely be contributing little to growth’ by the middle of 2010. But now the administration claims this will be a ‘recovery summer.’ I certainly hope recovery comes soon, but any improvements will come in spite of the Democrats’ massive deficits and tax increases, not because of them.
“A messaging blitz will not make people overlook policy failures. Americans want solutions that will actually get the private sector moving again, like lower taxes on savings and investment and an end to the uncertainty that has kept job creators on the sidelines. Washington needs to halt its uncontrolled deficit spending which is draining the means of production away from the productive areas of our economy.”
