Price Statement on Latest Round of Iran Sanctions

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding the sanctions on Iran approved by the United Nations Security Council today.

“At best, this resolution might have been enough to slow down Iran’s nuclear ambition’s eighteen months ago, but not anymore,” said Congressman Price. “The Obama administration’s failure to exhibit leadership and act decisively has given the Iranian government and Ahmadinejad another year and a half to refine uranium with greater and greater expertise. By taking this approach, the failure to develop a more global consensus to take a tougher stance has only emboldened the Iranian regime.

“A nuclear armed Iran will threaten the safety of every nation and lead directly to a destabilizing regional arms race. And make no mistake, this is the clear path Iran is on. There can be no more half-measures. Congress must act quickly to approve an appropriate set of more responsible, pointed sanctions in order to convince the Obama administration to finally show some leadership in stopping Iran’s drive for nuclear weapons.”
