Price: YouCut “Lets the American People Decide”
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement hailing the launch of YouCut, a new initiative by House Republicans that asks the American people to vote on which spending cuts they want to see Congress enact. Each week, House Republicans will offer an up-or-down vote on the spending cut that received the most public support. Following in the footsteps of the RSC Sunset Caucus, YouCut is designed to change the culture of spending in Washington into a culture of thrift.
“America is rapidly approaching a tipping point at which our economy will collapse under the weight of Washington’s addiction to spending and debt,” said Congressman Price. “Averting this disaster means ending the culture of spending in Washington and creating a culture of thrift. With YouCut, Republicans are partnering with the American people to restore fiscal sanity. This unique initiative, buttressed by the efforts of RSC members, lets the American people decide which special interest handouts and other wasteful spending to target first. Listening to the people is a hallmark of good governance.
“This is a conversation our country desperately needs to have. By reducing spending, we keep more money in the hands of the families and employers who earn it. Restoring America’s fiscal health will be a long effort, but YouCut is an important step in the right direction.”
