Price Statement on Kagan Nomination
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after President Obama announced he would nominate Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the United States Supreme Court.
“Liberal patronage is no qualification for the highest court in the land,” said Congressman Price. “Given her lack of judicial experience or a robust record of scholarly opinion, Solicitor General Kagan should be prepared to give the American people a full account of her views on law and the Constitution. Her indefensible decision to kick military recruiters off Harvard Law School’s campus should be vigorously questioned.
“Supreme Court Justices are Americans’ last line of defense against unconstitutional abuses of power in Washington. In an era when Democrats believe they can force every single American to purchase health insurance from private companies, the country wants a Justice who will abide by and defend the Constitution’s limits on the overreach of the federal government. Having spent nearly all of her adult life within the confines of academia or working for liberals in Washington, it remains to be seen whether Solicitor General Kagan meets that basic standard.”
