Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after President Barack Obama signed into law the so-called “fixes” bill to the Democrats’ government takeover of health care. The White House chose to hold today’s photo-op at a Northern Virginia Community College campus in order to highlight how this new law includes a separate but equally troubling government takeover of the student loan industry.

“Today’s bill signing marks the latest move to derail private enterprise,” said Congressman Price. “American families are learning more each day about the real life consequences of the massive overhaul of our nation’s health care system which a majority of Americans had rejected even before it became law. Yet, the Administration and their allies on Capitol Hill are proud to advertise their latest adventure in government intrusion – a takeover of the student loan industry. It is clear that Democrats have lost touch with those they were elected to serve and have no qualms about leaving thousands of hard-working folks out of a job in the midst of an economic downturn. By investing in the power of Washington, the majority is bankrupting the opportunities for individuals to choose what is best for themselves and their families.”
