Economic Recovery Impeded by Democrat Agenda

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to the December 2009 employment data showing the unemployment rate remained at 10% with a worse than expected loss of 85,000 jobs.

“Today’s report reflects the dismal economic approach Washington Democrats continue to pursue,” said Congressman Price. “The hard truth is that 10% percent of our workforce cannot find a job and even more Americans have simply given up their search. While our economy is seeking stability and room to run, Democrats in Washington remain bent on expanding the scope of government, raising taxes, and spending like there’s no tomorrow. That’s the same tired recipe for impeding economic growth that the Democrats have been cooking up for decades. If the loss of another 85,000 jobs last month is any indication, the Democrats’ detrimental economic policies are in full operation.

“There’s a simple way to invigorate the economy and enable robust growth. It starts by halting this job-killing agenda of reckless deficit spending, higher taxes, and expansion of government power. With greater freedom to create, innovate, and enjoy the fruits of their own labor, the American people will lead the way toward a brighter future.”
