Currently, many Americans have *no* choice regarding their health plan because they cannot afford health insurance at all, or they have to use the plan that their employer selected for them and which covers less and less. Congressman Reichert understands very little about health care, health plans, and economics. He shoud not weigh in on this issue at all.
I am very sorry to hear about your daughter. Unfortunately Reichert and his party are very much for "Tort Reform" which limits people's ability to sue doctors for malpractice even in the private sector.
These same horrible things happen in private hospitals too. I know from personal experience. The reform bills in Congress would not interfere with your ability for sue for malpractice. They would just reduce the difficulties most of us have in dealing with private insurers.
Government health care killed my daughter. Had I had the choice, my daughter would have been at Children's and not Naval Hospital. Children's would not have given my 5 pound baby ALL her immunizations at the same time without my knowledge or consent because they could be sued for gross negligence. Not so with Naval Hospital. They can't be sued thanks to the wretched Feres doctrine. So they don't have to be careful...they can't be held accountable! This healthcare plan scares me!
