Americans Hurt by Special Treatment for Big Labor

Congressman Tom Price (GA-06) issued the following statement regarding the hearing held by Republican members of the House Education and Labor Committee on the subject of the Obama administration’s union cronyism.

“President Obama’s first year in office has been a succession of special deals, special carve outs, and special access for the Democrats’ favorite special interest group, Big Labor,” said Congressman Price. “At a time when Washington needs to reduce the obstacles to economic recovery, Democrats and their Big Labor allies are furthering an agenda that strangles the ability of employers to hire and expand. Most recently, they cut a deal to exempt Big Labor from a proposed new tax on health insurance plans. The rest of the country, of course, would still have to pony up.”

“I commend Ranking Member Kline and my fellow Republicans for bringing these important concerns to the fore. Even as Democrats cut backroom deals in secret, the watchful eyes of Committee members will not let these issues go unexplored or unnoticed.”
