The State of Oklahoma

Transportation
Surface transportation funding is an important issue across Oklahoma. For far too long, Oklahoma has not received its fair share of funding compared to the money we send to Washington. Our status as a donor-state is unacceptable considering the condition of many roads and bridges across the state, which are in dire need of repair and maintenance. I will continue to fight to pull Oklahoma out of donor-state status and closer to a fair equity between the money we send to Washington and the money we receive.

On August 10, 2005, H.R. 3, the Transportation Equity Act of 2005, became law. As a result, state road and highway projects will get a much-needed boost. The transportation funds I fought for will help improve public safety, protect public health and the environment, and create job opportunities.

I am also committed to maintaining and protecting the aerospace and aviation industry in Oklahoma. These industries provide thousands of jobs in our state. The stability of these jobs is essential to our continued economic growth. I will also continue working to secure our state’s airports with screening equipment and funding. Given our status as a center for aviation, we should also set the standard for airport security.
