The Declaration of Independence
Drafted by Thomas Jefferson in 1776, this historic document is a list of grievances against the King of England in order to justify before the world the breaking of ties between the colonies and the mother country.

The U.S. Constitution
The Federal Convention convened in Philadelphia throughout the summer of 1789 to draft articles serving as the framework of our government.

The Federalist Papers
A series of 85 essays written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison between October 1787 and May 1788 and published anonymously, under the pen name "Publius," in New York newspapers.
 
The Bill of Rights
The first 10 Amendments to the U.S. Constitution which spells out the immunities of the individual citizens.
