Skelton: Incident a Reminder of Why We Fight
|

Waynesville, Mo.— Congressman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) today called the interception of explosive material bound for the U.S. a reminder of the importance of American efforts to pursue and destroy terrorist threats around the globe. After receiving a briefing from a senior official at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Skelton stated:
“I commend our intelligence community, the Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense for successfully detecting and preventing a terrorist attack. This is another instance of the increased measures taken in recent years to strengthen our national security.
“We must use this incident as a reminder of the need to remain vigilant and continue to pursue Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda, and its affiliates in Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as to continue to work with the Yemeni government to address terrorist threats to our international security.”
