Price Statement on North Korean Hostilities

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to condemn North Korea for the recent sinking of a South Korean naval vessel, the ROKS Cheonan. Earlier today, the North Korean government announced it was severing all ties with its neighbor.

“All signs pin responsibility for the sinking of the Cheonan and the deaths of 46 South Korean sailors on Kim Jong-il and the North Korean military,” said Congressman Price. “This violent and flagrant breach of the Korean War Armistice must not go unanswered. While we seek to prevent the outbreak of further violence and conflict, America must stand firmly by our allies and hold North Korea accountable for its actions. In addition to continued military coordination with the Republic of Korea, our alliance can be strengthened by securing greater economic ties through a Free Trade Agreement that Democrats have delayed for nearly three years. We must honor our commitments to our allies – particularly when they are threatened by other nations.”
