Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after a Clinton appointed federal district court judge in Michigan ruled that Congress has the authority to mandate that every single American purchase health insurance, a central pillar of ObamaCare. According to HealthCareLawsuits.org, there are more than 20 court cases challenging ObamaCare currently moving through the system.

“It should come as no surprise that a Clinton appointed federal judge supports socialized medicine. The sad thing is the absolute political nature of this decision,” said Congressman Price. “Judge Steeh stated in his findings that the bill has merit. That's not the question. The question is whether the law is constitutional.

“Another liberal judge makes another liberal ruling. This is precisely what the American people are sick and tired of - judges inserting their own political agenda on their decisions. Ultimately, the Supreme Court will settle this question. We trust they'll be more concerned about the Constitution than their own ideological beliefs.

“If Congress can force every single American to buy a particular product, there is practically nothing Congress cannot do. Such a vast expansion of federal power goes against the very limitations our Founders wrote into the Constitution.

“Republicans will continue to fight to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with reforms that actually address rising costs and put power and choice in the hands of patients, not the federal government.”
