Reichert Statement on Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Congressman Dave Reichert (WA-08) today released the following statement recognizing efforts to support programs that serve victims of domestic violence and raise awareness of this critical issue:
“Domestic violence is a scourge in our society, and our goal as a nation should be to completely eliminate it. Having spent 33 years in law enforcement, I witnessed acts of domestic violence and watched the debilitating results play out in families and communities for weeks, months, and years afterward. Domestic violence recognizes no boundaries, and the toll it takes on people across this country is incalculable. We must work harder to raise awareness of this critical issue to ensure people know that help is available, and that they can feel safe in reaching out and taking hold of that help. I urge people to support organizations committed to stamping out domestic violence, and to extend a helping hand to victims in communities across our country. We must all stay vigilant to keep our society and citizens safe and secure.”
