HODES SECURES MILLIONS FOR CAPITOL CORRIDOR RAIL PROJECT

October 25, 2010

Concord, N.H. – Today, Paul Hodes announced that he has secured over two million dollars in funding that will move the Capitol Corridor Rail Project forward. This fully-funded $2.24 million High Speed Rail Planning Grant was secured after Hodes held meetings in his office with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and advocated the project to President Obama personally.

“The Capitol Corridor Rail Project will create good-paying green jobs right now, and will continue to grow our small business economy into the future,” said Hodes.  “Clean, reliable, and fast rail transportation is necessary to grow our economy and ease the burden on our overworked freeways throughout New Hampshire.  This project is a huge shot in the arm for New Hampshire’s economy.”

The Capital Corridor Rail Project will help 500,000 Granite Staters in Southern New Hampshire travel between Concord, Manchester, Nashua and Boston. The line will also include a stop at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and future plans include railways through White River Junction, VT and Montreal.
