With the support of Congressman Dave Reichert (WA-08), the U.S. House of Representatives today passed a resolution recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks by Hamas, reaffirming the United States’ strong support for Israel, and supporting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Reichert released the following statement of support for Israel as the attacks in Gaza continue:

“I strongly support Israel’s right to defend itself, and am saddened by the innocent loss of life during this conflict. Hamas wrongfully broke a ceasefire agreement with unprovoked violence, and Israel is justified in responding in self-defense.  America must stand firmly by Israel to protect freedom, confront terrorism, and seek a peaceful resolution that halts this senseless violence.”
