Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) delivered a statement from the House floor in support of HR 4783, the Claims Resolution Act of 2010, which passed the Senate and provides $1.15 billion to Black Farmers and $3.4 billion to Indians to settle claims of discrimination and financial mismanagement against the US Government. Congresswoman Waters appeared on CNBC's Squawk on the Street with hosts Erin Burnett and Mark Haines to discuss the fraud and collusion of some mortgage servicers that likely led to millions of Americans wrongly losing their homes to foreclosure. The Congresswoman, who chairs the Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee, reiterated her call for a nationwide moratorium on foreclosures; called for an investigation of allegations that servicers authorized foreclosures without reviewing individual homeowners' cases; and previewed her legislative solution to offer homeowners loss mitigation, avoid foreclosure, and stay in their homes.
