Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division - David Kris

Assistant Attorney General David Kris was confirmed on March 25, 2009.  A hearing to consider his nomination was held on February 25, 2009.  An archived webcast is available.  On March 5, 2009, the Committee ordered the nomination reported to the Senate for consideration.  The nomination was referred to the Intelligence Committee, which reported the nomination to the Senate for consideration on on March 12.  icon_webcast

Did You Know?  The U.S. Courts of Appeals were the first federal courts designed exclusively to hear cases on appeal from trial courts.  In an effort to relieve the caseload burden in the Supreme Court, and to handle a dramatic increase in federal filings, Congress passed the Judiciary Act of 1891, establishing nine courts of appeals, one for each judicial circuit.
