Medical Liability Reform Our nation’s doctors need to be protected. The GOP solutions would help end frivolous and expensive lawsuits that end up costing many physicians nationwide their careers. Republican ideas also would curb defensive medicine by enacting limits on punitive and non-economic damages, enforcing appropriate standards for awarding those damages, limiting attorney fees, setting forth requirements for proportional or ‘fair share’ liability, and establishing a reasonable statue of limitations. These reforms would be modeled after the successful state laws of California and Texas. Related Documents:
