“In God We Trust Resolution” Receives National Attention
Posted by Randy | July 13, 2010

I’m happy to share with you that the In God We Trust Resolution that I introduced this year continues to receive national attention and support.

This week, Renewing American Leadership highlighted my bill reaffirming “In God We Trust” as our national motto. Renewing American Leadership is well-known for being under the leadership of former speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and for their dedication to preserving America’s Judeo-Christian heritage.

You can read a copy of the bill and a personal note from me about the bill on the Renewing American Leadership website.

Which God would that be---Protestant, Catholic, Mormon, Unitarian, Christian Scientist, JW, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic, Jain, B'hai, Coptic, x 1000...etc? Just who do you think you're fooling? This is America, the land of religious equality, freedom of thought. You can pander to Pat Robertson and Jay Sekulow all you want, but don't try to foist their evangelical terrorism on the Constitution and the government who have NO OPINION on God, endorsing no one's God over another. Government neutrality, sir; the only prudent tack. Demagoguery is a poor substitute for faith---and leadership.

Thank you for the sponsoring the In God We Trust resolution. I respect our freedom of religion and the history of our nation explicitly includes God; it is so sad that others do not know this.

Congressman Forbes, I write in full support of your resolution reaffirming our national motto as "In God We Trust". Thank you for your leadership on this matter. I am certainly disturbed by the efforts of some and the visable trend in our country today to completly exclude any refernce to God in our Nation, which if successeful can only lead to our downfall. God Bless, Bill Sweeney, Bristol, Rhode Island

Ok, We have hundreds of millions of people out of work, we are occupying two foreign countries, killing hundreds of thousands of folks for little or no reason, and you are worried about paying tribute to some imaginary deity. When I was in elementary school, I was taught something about the separation of church and state. When we have many differing religions, believes and "Gods" .. Why use one God as an 'officially sanctioned' one? Come on! Isn't there enough needless legislation? Couldn't you use your time in Congress to fight for laws to actually HELP Americans?

John, did you go to the same elementary school as our distinguished President? The reason I ask is because you say we have hundreds of millions of people out of work. If that were the case, very few of us are contributing anything because the entire US population is just a little over 300 million. And unfortunately, innocent people die everyday whether we are at war or not. Horrible atrocities are carried out everyday within our own borders. Separation of church and state does not mean ignore your entire countries past either. Religion has always been and will always be an important part of our heritage. And as far as needless legislation, I would rather have Mr. Forbes working on legislation like this than trying to figure out how he can steal the money out of my wallet to pay for a nationalized health care system that is doomed to fail. Remember, you said that hundreds of millions were out of work, so apparently myself and a few others will have to pay to make you feel better. You're welcome in advance.
