Washington, Dec 15, 2005 - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) announced today that $46,513 in federal funding has been awarded to the Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RHA) by the Ross – Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency program.

“I am delighted the Department of Housing and Urban Development is providing funds to assist the Chesapeake RHA with their staffing needs,” Forbes said. “These funds not only provide for a new staff position, but will also provide a greater quality of service to those seeking assistance in Chesapeake.”

Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority Executive Director, Brenda Willis commented, “We are pleased to be awarded this grant. This funding will allow us to maintain a full-time staff position to assist our families in improving their quality of life, allow these families to reach their goal of self-sufficiency, and eliminate the need for public assistance.”

The ROSS – Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency program provides funding for Public Housing Authorities, tribes/TDHEs to hire a program coordinator to link participating families to the supportive services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.
