Forbes to Host Free Seniors Consumer Protection Workshop in Chesapeake

Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) is hosting a free Seniors Consumer Protection Workshop to be held at the Chesapeake City Council Chambers on Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.  The seminar is free and open to all senior citizens and other interested residents of Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District.

Congressman Randy Forbes, all interested residents of Virginia’s Fourth District, and speakers:

Community Outreach and Triad Director, Northern Virginia Regional Office, Office of Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli
Olivia B. Claud
Insurance Outreach Coordinator, State Corporation Commission, Bureau of Insurance

WHAT:

“Seniors Consumer Protection Workshop.” An interactive workshop to discuss consumer information for seniors including:

 

  • Reasons why seniors are targeted for frauds and scams
  • Current common frauds and scams, including warning signs
  • Steps to prevent identity theft
  • Available resources in the event of fraud or scams

 

WHEN:

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Check-in will begin at 9:45 a.m.
