Democrats Finally Admit ObamaCare’s Failure to Reduce Costs, Deficit
Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to reports that Democrats plan to no longer make the false claim that ObamaCare will reduce health care costs and the deficit.
“Not too long ago, Democrats were singing a very different tune about ObamaCare,” said Congressman Price. “Now, just five months after it became law, even the people who wrote the bill are beginning to admit its failure. Amazingly, Democrats still seem to think that if they just tweak their talking points, the country will fall in love with a government takeover of health care. Their problem is not what they say. It is what they have done.
“Rising health care costs and the exploding national debt are of paramount concern to many Americans; yet ObamaCare only throws more fuel on these fires. Only out-of-touch Washington Democrats would think that we could save money by spending trillions more. When you toss out the budget gimmicks and stop using fuzzy math, this law never even comes close to lowering the deficit. Reckless spending and debt have already put the country in uncertain waters. The last thing we needed was a government takeover of one sixth of the economy.
“Washington should never have the power to say how we can, cannot, or must spend our health care dollars. That is why I continue to advocate for true reforms that will empower patients with lower costs and better choices.”
Note: Rep. Price introduced H.R. 3400, the Empowering Patients First Act, that offers a set of positive, patient-centered health care reforms that put patients, families, and their doctors in control of personal health care decisions.
