Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ron Paul announced today that he is actively seeking office space on Galveston Island and hopes to re-open an office within the next few weeks.

“I am entirely committed to maintaining services to the people of Galveston and Chambers Counties, and we want to be sure that everybody understands our confidence in the full recovery of Galveston Island.  That is why I will again be locating my office in the City of Galveston.”  Paul said he has instructed his staff to find a suitable location, and that they have received several offers that are currently under consideration.  “I have instructed that we reopen our Galveston office as soon as possible as a way to demonstrate my commitment to Galveston, and to continue constituent services close to the people.” Paul’s District Case Director, Jackie Gloor, said that as of October 16th, Congressman Paul’s offices had opened over 250 cases related to Ike and that over 150 of those have been resolved.  “We are continuing to bring assistance to the Congressman’s constituents,” said Gloor.

Paul’s Chief of Staff, Tom Lizardo, stated that once a new location is chosen it will take several days to get final approval through the House of Representatives and that staff will work as quickly as possible to get the office up and running.  In the mean time, cases are being handled out of Paul’s Lake Jackson Office, which can be reached at                979-285-0231        .

Paul said that his staff has asked for assistance from both the City and County in locating appropriate space and has been working with individuals from the Galveston Chamber of Commerce and UTMB, as well as local realtors and property owners, to find an appropriate location.  “Just as we came together after Hurricane Rita to coordinate a local job fair, we will continue to work with people in the Galveston Community to bring the best possible service to the area,” Paul said.
