Washington - Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) has received confirmation from the U. S. Department of Labor that the workers at Archway & Mothers Cookie Company, located in Red Bud, will be eligible for worker adjustment assistance. The workers performed distribution and warehousing activities related to the production of cookies by the firm.
The decision reads, "All workers of Archway & Mothers Cookie Company, Red Bud, Illinois, who became totally or partially separated from employment on or after June 30, 2004 through two years from the date of certification are eligible to apply for adjustment assistance.."
"This ruling allows for benefits that can help the transition to other employment, including additional unemployment benefits, job training, relocation expense reimbursement, and other services," Costello noted. "I am very concerned about jobs being lost to foreign competition, and I will continue to vote against trade agreements that erode the U.S. manufacturing base."
