Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Granite City Housing Authority has been awarded a $36,882 Public Housing Graduation Incentive Bonus Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funds are awarded to public housing authorities that demonstrate accomplishments in helping their residents to become self-sufficient and less dependent on long-term housing assistance and can be used for operating expenses.
"This funding will allow Granite City to improve their facilities to better serve low-income families and to help them obtain safe and affordable housing," Costello said. "I strongly support HUD funds, which assist local housing authorities in their efforts to enhance public housing."
