Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Illinois Department of Transportation has received a $3,001,600 Emergency Relief program grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation that will benefit the 12th Congressional District. A portion of the funds will be used to reimburse the state for road repairs following severe storms in the spring and summer of 2002 in the following counties: Alexander, Franklin, Jackson, Pulaski, Randolph and Union.
"This funding will help the state replenish its resources for maintenance, and is an example of how the federal and state governments work together on transportation matters," said Costello. "It is imperative that we devote adequate federal resources to meet our transportation infrastructure needs."
