PARTICIPATES IN BRIEFING ON THE SALUKI KIDS ACADEMY
Carbondale, IL - On Monday, March 28, 2005 U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) participated in a briefing with administrators, parents and students of the Saluki Kids Academy at the Dunn Richmond Center on the campus of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Costello was briefed on the programs and history of the Saluki Kids Academy, which is a community based initiative that helps children in grades 4-6 receive additional educational opportunities. The Saluki Kids Academy is a partnership between Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, the private sector, individual supporters and state and local government agencies. Costello secured $300,000 for the Academy in last year's Omnibus Budget resolution.
