SHAWNEE MASS TRANSIT DISTRICT RECEIVES
FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION GRANT AWARD
Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Shawnee Mass Transit District has received a $238,000 grant through the Federal Transit Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The funds will be used to provide low-income individuals with transportation to and from work. This service area includes the counties of Union, Pulaski and Alexander counties in the 12th Congressional District.
"These funds will create new employment opportunities for people," said Costello. "Transportation options for people are essential to a strong economy, and I will continue to work to ensure there are adequate resources for these programs."
