Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Cave Eastern Fire Protection District, located in Thompsonville, has received a $14,900 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development. The funds will be used to purchase two sirens to alert firefighters to fire calls and the public to storm warnings.
"I am committed to making sure our first responders have the equipment necessary to keep our communities safe," Costello said. "The federal budget must reflect that our firefighters and law enforcement officials are critical elements of public safety and homeland security."
