Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that several Southern Illinois jurisdictions will receive funds through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program of the U.S. Department of Justice to purchase bulletproof vests for local police officers. The grants will pay for up to 50% of the cost of the vests.
"I am pleased that these federal funds will supplement local funds to provide additional protective equipment for police officers in the 12th Congressional District," said Costello, a former law enforcement official.
