U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PRESENTS MEDALS TO WIFE OF AREA VETERAN
Granite City, IL - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello, (D-IL) presented several military medals on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 to honor the military service of the late Ralph E. Gauen of Granite City, Illinois. Congressman Costello presented the medals to Mr. Gauen's wife, Doris, at his Congressional District office located in Granite City, Illinois.
Mrs. Gauen requested Congressman Costello's help in obtaining her late husband's service medals. Ralph Gauen, who passed away in April of this year, was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II who gave his service from 1943 to 1946.
Among the medals awarded posthumously to Mr. Gauen are the American Campaign Medal, the WW II Victory medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Pin and the Discharge button.
