Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) is pleased to announce that People Inc. has been awarded almost $7 million dollars for an independent senior housing site in the Town of West Seneca

“I recently had the opportunity to visit one of People Inc.’s new, modern senior housing facilities in Western New York,” said Congressman Higgins. “People Inc. does a wonderful job providing a great mix of independent apartments in a setting that provides community and friendship.”  

“There is a critical need for independent housing for seniors in our community.  We aggressively go after this funding each year so that we can position ourselves to fill that need,” said James Boles, President and CEO, People Inc.

With this recent federal award, People Inc will soon have 18 senior apartment buildings which will bring the number of independent seniors 62 and over the agency provides apartments to almost 800.

With the addition of this $7 million in HUD funding for the site in West Seneca, People Inc. has been awarded almost $100 million dollars in federal funds since their first site opened at the corner of Sowles Road and South Park Avenue in the Town of Hamburg in 1994.

“Since Congressman Higgins became a member of the House of Representatives in 2005, People Inc has opened sites that are located in his district in the City of Lackawanna, and the Towns of Cheektowaga, Hamburg, Orchard Park and West Seneca,” added Boles. 

Apartment complexes consist of a single bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and a living/dining area.  Each complex includes a furnished community room with a full kitchen for social gatherings, live-in building caretakers, laundry facilities and a full time manager.  There are several opportunities for social outings.  To be eligible, annual household income can not exceed the federal Income limits.
