Galveston's 5th Annual Oceans of Opportunities Job Fair

9am - 2pm Feb 17, 2010  at the Galveston Island Convention Center

Galveston, TX - Congressman Ron Paul is pleased to collaborate with the community of Galveston on the Oceans of Opportunities Job Fair, which aims to connect job seekers with employers to help the local economy. The annual event has become highly anticipated and is needed now more than ever.

Last year, 106 employers and over 800 job seekers participated.  Healthcare, service, administration and several other fields were represented from companies in the Greater Houston area, Galveston and beyond – even as far away as Alaska!

Congressman Paul is enthusiastic about the opportunity to help in this way.  “The economy is struggling nationally and locally. Galveston is working its way back from an over 8% unemployment rate,” he said. “Our goal is to help bridge the gap and bring unemployment down.”

Workforce Solutions will provide resume assistance and helpful hints for job seekers at the job fair.  “All job seekers should dress professionally and bring copies of their polished resume,” said Terri Simpton with Workforce Solutions.

The Oceans of Opportunities Job Fair is organized jointly by Congressman Ron Paul, the City of Galveston, the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, the Galveston Economic Development Partnership, UTMB and Workforce Solutions.  The job fair is free of charge for job seekers and employers, but employers are required to register to reserve booth space.
