Rep. Tom Petri: Well, I had the opportunity to meet with the 5th grade class at Tullar Elementary in Neenah, and I must say that they were a very, very interested, alert, up-on-the-issues group of young people.
We hear a lot of criticism, but we don't sometimes recognize the fact that while there are some young people that get into trouble and aren't trying to do a good job, most are pretty serious young people at the end of the day. And that certainly was the case there.
I had a good chance to talk about the life of a congressman, and about our constitutional system
of government and some aspects of the job. Overall it was a lot of fun for me, and I hope the
kids got something out of it as well.
