Arts and Industries Building - Washington, D.C.: $4.6 million

National Zoological Park: $11.4 million

Description: These funds will go towards:

  • Fire protection projects at Rock Creek campus (Washington, D.C.) and Conservation Research Center (Front Royal, Virginia)
  • Replacing roofs at Rock Creek campus and Conservation Research Center
  • Replacing deteriorated animal-holding facilities at Conservation Research Center
  • Repairing bridges at Rock Creek campus

Other Smithsonian Projects: $9 million

Description: These funds will go towards:

  • Installing high-voltage electrical safety improvements at multiple locations on the National Mall (Washington, D.C.)
  • Installing sewage backflow preventers on potable water lines at multiple locations off the National Mall; biggest project is at Museum Support Center (Suitland, Maryland)
  • Installing two emergency generators at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (Edgewater, Maryland)
  • Refurbishing or replacing elevators and escalators at the National Air and Space Museum and National Museum of American History (Washington, D.C.)
