I have a strong background as a small business owner who started from scratch a successful business of a chain of hotels, motels and restaurants.

I have created jobs, met a payroll, provided health insurance and employee benefits, dealt with taxes and burdensome government regulations.

While running my businesses, I provided healthcare to my employees but government interference and regulation made it too expensive; I was unable to continue coverage. America's small businesses continue to face this same struggle but with more government regulations, higher costs, and more mandates.

This is a unique perspective only I can bring to the Energy and Commerce Committee. I know what our small business owners, the backbone of our job market have to deal with daily, because I did it.
