Q: What is the process for naturalization?
A: Naturalization can be granted to a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act. Usually, applicants must be a green card holder. Other qualifications are listed on the USCIS naturalization website. A printable guide to the naturalization process is available here.

The first step in applying for naturalization is preparing for the naturalization test. Study materials are available here. Applicants eligible pursuant to certain sections of the Act can find appropriate forms here.

Q: How Do I Renew My Green Card?
A: If your card has not expired, you need to complete Form I-90 and take it, along with two photos of yourself and the $290 applicable filing fee, to a local USCIS office. The USCIS office that serves Maryland is the Baltimore Field Office, located in the Fallon Federal Building, 31 Hopkins Plaza, First Floor, Baltimore, Maryland, 21201.

If your card is expired, lost or stolen, you need to complete Form I-90 and bring it to the Baltimore Field Office, at the above address. To speak with an immigration information officer, you must make an appointment via the Internet at INFOPASS. You must bring the printout of your INFOPASS appointment and a photo ID with you. Only a limited number of documented emergencies can be served on a walk-in basis.

Q: How do I let USCIS know I have moved?
A:  You can use USCIS’s Online Change of Address program.  This tool allows you to change your address online so that USCIS can contact you regarding your status.

Q: I've tried calling the USCIS to ask a simple question, but can't get through.
A: Try the INS HelpLine at 1-800-375-5283, 24-hours a day.

Q: How do I get a form from USCIS?
A: Most forms are available for download or you can request forms be mailed to you on the USCIS website, or by calling 1-800-870-FORM (3676).  Most of the forms can be filled out on your computer using the latest version of Adobe Reader.
